Earth Day Word Search

One PLANET, one chance. Our Earth Day word search hides the ways we care for the EARTH, from a green RECYCLE bin to a sunny SOLAR panel, in a grid of letters. Pick a difficulty and go green.

Caring for our planet

Earth Day is a worldwide reminder to look after our home, and this word search gathers the big ideas. You'll track down the three Rs โ€” REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE โ€” plus the threats we're working to fix, from POLLUTION and rising CARBON to the changing CLIMATE.

Each puzzle pulls a fresh selection from the list, so the message changes every time you play โ€” gentle on Easy, and a Hard-mode challenge once the diagonals and backwards words appear.

Small actions, big difference

Everyone can help the PLANET, and the words are here. Start a COMPOST heap, switch to SOLAR and RENEWABLE energy, CONSERVE water, join a litter CLEANUP and bin the LITTER. It's all about protecting NATURE โ€” the FOREST and TREES, the OCEAN, the WILDLIFE and their HABITAT โ€” to keep the EARTH GREEN for the future.

The day that launched a movement

The very first Earth Day was held on 22 April 1970 in the United States, when millions of people took to streets and parks to demand cleaner air and water. At the time, factory smoke and POLLUTION were widely accepted as normal โ€” Earth Day helped change that, and is often credited with kick-starting the modern environmental movement and the laws that protect NATURE today.

It has only grown since. Earth Day is now marked in around 190 countries by more than a billion people, making it one of the biggest civic events on the PLANET. Schools plant TREES, communities run a CLEANUP, and everyone is encouraged to think about CLIMATE change and how small daily choices โ€” recycling, saving energy, cutting waste โ€” add up across the whole world.

Great for a science topic

It pairs perfectly with a lesson on the environment, climate or recycling โ€” Easy mode keeps the grid small with no diagonals or reverse words. Play online, print a PDF pack, or use our Make Your Own tool to build a grid from your own eco words.
