The race to the Moon
The SPACE RACE was a contest between AMERICA and the SOVIET union to be first in space, and this puzzle gathers it. You'll be finding the first SATELLITE, SPUTNIK, the first man in space, GAGARIN, and the giant leap of the APOLLO MISSION that put ARMSTRONG on the MOON.
Because every new puzzle reshuffles the grid, no two Space Race word searches are the same. One round a backwards SPUTNIK hides in a corner; the next a diagonal ARMSTRONG appears across the middle.
Rockets, capsules and crews
Getting to space took daring crews and brilliant science, and the words are here. There's the towering ROCKET on the LAUNCH pad, the LIFTOFF and the climb into ORBIT, the cramped CAPSULE and the reusable SHUTTLE that followed. Brave crews β the American ASTRONAUT and the Soviet COSMONAUT β fought GRAVITY itself, guided by NASA and the ENGINEER on the ground, all the way to a Moon LANDING beside a dusty CRATER.
It's a great fit for a modern-history or science topic. Tracking down A-S-T-R-O-N-A-U-T turns spelling practice into a space mission.
How to play
Drag across a word, or click its first and last letter β both work. Each word you spot locks in with its own colour and ticks off the list, so you always know what's left to find.
