The saga that changed cinema
Star Wars was created by writer-director George Lucas, and the very first film arrived in 1977 — later subtitled 'A New Hope'. Its dazzling special effects were so far ahead of their time that Lucas had to build a whole new company, Industrial Light & Magic, to achieve them, and the film became a phenomenon that reshaped the movie business.
The story grew into the original trilogy, a set of prequels, and later sequels, with Disney buying Lucasfilm in 2012 and expanding the galaxy into hit TV shows too. Across it all runs the same timeless tale: the light side of the Force against the dark, the Rebellion against the Empire.
