Back to the Future Word Search

Where we're going, we don't need ROADS. Our Back to the Future word search hides MARTY, DOC and their time-travelling DELOREAN in a grid of letters. Pick a difficulty and hit eighty-eight miles an hour.

Roads? Where we're going...

Back to the Future is the ultimate time-travel adventure, and this word search gathers its world. You'll start with teenager MARTY McFLY, the eccentric DOC BROWN, their souped-up DELOREAN, and the FLUX CAPACITOR that makes time travel possible.

Each puzzle pulls a fresh selection from the list, so the timeline is rearranged every time you play β€” gentle on Easy, and a Hard-mode adventure once the diagonals and backwards words appear.

Past, present and future

The whole trilogy is here. Track down DOC's dog EINSTEIN, Marty's girlfriend JENNIFER, the bully BIFF TANNEN, and the town of HILL VALLEY. There's the PLUTONIUM that powers the car, the famous HOVERBOARD and SKATEBOARD, the sports ALMANAC, a bolt of LIGHTNING, and the CLOCKTOWER where it all comes together β€” with 1.21 GIGAWATTS to spare.

Eighty-eight miles an hour

Back to the Future raced into cinemas in 1985, directed by Robert Zemeckis, co-written with Bob Gale, and produced by Steven Spielberg. Michael J. Fox starred as Marty and Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown, in a story that sends a teenager back to 1955 in a time machine built from a gull-winged DeLorean sports car.

It packed its time-travel rules with details fans still quote today: the car must hit 88 miles per hour, the flux capacitor needs 1.21 gigawatts of power, and a well-timed lightning strike on the clocktower saves the day. A hit trilogy followed, zipping between the past, the present and a famously hoverboard-filled future.

A time-travel hit for all ages

The clever, good-natured time-travel fun makes this a family favourite β€” Easy mode keeps the grid small with no diagonals or reverse words for younger players. Play online, print a PDF pack, or use our Make Your Own tool to build a grid from your own favourite characters and gadgets.
