The pH scale
Acids and bases are at opposite ends of the pH SCALE, and this puzzle gathers the chemistry. You'll be finding the two extremes β the sour ACID and the soapy BASE or ALKALI β plus the NEUTRAL point in the middle, and the way we test them with LITMUS and a UNIVERSAL INDICATOR.
Because every new puzzle reshuffles the lab, no two acids and bases word searches are the same. One round a backwards CORROSIVE hides in a corner; the next a diagonal INDICATOR appears across the middle.
Everyday chemistry
Acids and bases are all around us, and the words are here. Acids taste SOUR β think VINEGAR and LEMON β and a STRONG one like SULFURIC acid is CORROSIVE. Bases feel slippery β like SOAP, BLEACH and AMMONIA. We've hidden the lab words too: the chemical REACTION between them, the SOLUTION you DILUTE, the HYDROGEN that makes an acid acidic, and the BITTER taste of a base.
It's a great fit for a chemistry topic. Tracking down I-N-D-I-C-A-T-O-R turns spelling practice into an experiment.
How to play
Drag across a word, or click its first and last letter β both work. Each word you spot locks in with its own colour and ticks off the list, so you always know what's left to find.
