A city is a large town where huge numbers of people live and work — and the biggest, like SHANGHAI and MUMBAI, are 'megacities' home to tens of millions. What makes these places special is that each is famous for something of its own: VENICE for its canals instead of roads, DUBAI for its record-breaking skyscrapers, KYOTO for its ancient temples, and BARCELONA for its wild, wavy architecture.
