Author Rick Riordan made up adventures about a DEMIGOD to entertain his son, who had dyslexia and ADHD and was bored by his Greek myths homework — so Riordan made PERCY dyslexic and ADHD too, reframing them as the marks of a hero whose brain is 'wired for battle, not for reading'. That choice turned the books into a lifeline for millions of kids who saw themselves in a hero for the first time.
