For thousands of years, philosophers have asked the biggest questions there are, and this puzzle gathers many of them. You'll be finding the ancient Greeks SOCRATES, PLATO and ARISTOTLE, the Chinese sage CONFUCIUS, and the Roman thinker SENECA.
Because every new puzzle reshuffles the roll call, no two philosophers word searches are the same. One round a backwards NIETZSCHE hides in a corner; the next a diagonal DESCARTES stretches across the grid.
From ancient Greece to the modern age
Great thinkers have appeared in every age, and the words are here. There are the Enlightenment minds LOCKE, HUME, KANT, ROUSSEAU and VOLTAIRE, the rationalists DESCARTES, SPINOZA and PASCAL, and later figures like HEGEL, MILL, MARX, NIETZSCHE, RUSSELL and SARTRE. We use surnames to keep most words short, though a few like NIETZSCHE run longer — a nice challenge for older students who already know the name.
