Mathematics has been built up over thousands of years by some remarkable people, and this puzzle gathers many of them. You'll be finding the ancient Greeks PYTHAGORAS, EUCLID and ARCHIMEDES, the computing pioneers TURING, LOVELACE and BABBAGE, and the puzzle-solver FIBONACCI.
Because every new puzzle reshuffles the roll call, no two mathematicians word searches are the same. One round a backwards ARCHIMEDES hides in a corner; the next a diagonal RAMANUJAN stretches across the grid.
Pioneers across the ages
From ancient times to the modern day, the words are here. There's HYPATIA of ancient Alexandria, the great GAUSS and EULER, number theorists like FERMAT and RIEMANN, and trailblazers like GERMAIN and NOETHER. We use surnames to keep most words short and Easy mode playable, though a few like PYTHAGORAS run longer — a nice challenge for older students who already know the name.
