The languages coders use
Computers are programmed using special languages, and this puzzle gathers many of them. You'll be finding hugely popular ones like PYTHON, JAVA and JAVASCRIPT's cousin TYPESCRIPT, the app-building SWIFT and KOTLIN, and the web favourite RUBY.
Because every new puzzle reshuffles the list, no two Programming Languages word searches are the same. One round a backwards TYPESCRIPT hides in a corner; the next a diagonal ASSEMBLY appears across the middle.
From classics to modern code
Programming languages have been invented for over 70 years, and the words are here. There are the old classics COBOL, FORTRAN, PASCAL and BASIC, the low-level ASSEMBLY language, and modern names like RUST, SCALA, DART, JULIA, CLOJURE and HASKELL. You'll also spot LUA, PERL, ERLANG, GROOVY and the maths-friendly MATLAB. We use the language names just as coders write them, so you can match each one as you go.
It's a great fit for a computing or coding-club topic. Tracking down T-Y-P-E-S-C-R-I-P-T turns spelling practice into a coding lesson.
How to play
Drag across a word, or click its first and last letter β both work. Each word you spot locks in with its own colour and ticks off the list, so you always know what's left to find.
Want a real challenge? Switch to Medium or Hard for a bigger grid with diagonals and reverse words. Stuck on one? Tap Hint for a nudge, or Solve to reveal the whole grid at once.
